Remember the songs you and your buddies sang to while listening to the radio in the “Scooby Bus” ?…

Scooby Bus

I know… those songs are still ringing in my ears too!

I took pictures of over 200 T-Walls at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, and put them into a DVD, and for a very low cost you can order the DVD

You may have some of the pictures that I don’t have, and if you take yours and add together with the ones on my DVD then you could have a huge collection of these priceless, never before published historical photographs that no American civilian ever knew existed.

All of us in the Iraq War have a story to tell…

All of us in the Global War on Terrorism have a place in history on those T-Walls, and your story…my story…and the story of every single man and woman in that war needs to be told by our mouths here at home…and together we can rekindle Patriotism in America.

If my people which are called by my name . . .

Do something about it…

Your story is history…get the pictures and tell America about it.

Who can better tell a passage of history than those who lived that history?

Tell about it…write about it…show the pictures…

Task Force Shield

All of us faced danger,
but we also faced some funny moments

Now, I don’t know about you, but the Porta-John that was closest to my HOOCH in Baghdad was about 30 meters away across a parking lot. This probably wouldn’t be a problem to most of you, but my Master Sergeant and I are old. That means we have to ‘go…’ at least once a night.

During the rainy season, the parking lot would fill up with water (over your boots deep water) and this would leave the Porta-John in a lake.

Porta Johns in the lake at camp Buehring

I had a talk with the mayor cell and asked them to move it to higher ground and even gave them a map to show where to place it. Instead, they had a platform built in front of the door. The platform (boat dock) didn’t fix anything.

I chose to drive my NTV (non-tactical vehicle) across the lake to the boat dock in front of the John. My Master Sergeant thought that that was hilarious! –COL Kofoed

I want to make the “The Art of War in Kuwait” DVD with pictures of the T-Walls and other soldiers art available to every soldier and officer that was there.

That is why I am charging a fraction of what it is really worth, because, let’s face it, how can you put a price on sacrifice and on history well made?

This is your time to tell the world what it was like FOR YOU to serve in the front lines of the Iraq war

Tell U.S.

Tell the U.S. the truth about when you were scared to death.

Tell the U.S. how you felt the day your first baby was born…And you were Behind Enemy Lines.

Task Force 14 Med - First to Care

Have you got four minutes.  Let me tell you about T-Walls.

The weapons range was huge, and well, anytime you get to “throw rounds” down range you are having a good time!!!

(Could have done without the body armor though.)

Weapon's Range

Unfortunately, sometimes at War we lose loved ones….soldiers die, families are torn apart, children become fatherless or motherless.

That is why I built theartofwarinkuwait.com website.  When you get “The Art of War in Kuwait and Other Soldiers Art” DVD with pictures of the T-Walls, you can email me your story and I will add it to theartofwarinkuwait.com blog for you.  You can share what you went through,  how the war affected your life, what was going on at your home front, etc.  You can even send pictures if you wish.  Send them to me and I will make sure that the history of your military service is published and recognized by millions on the internet.   Send me your stories and together we will publish our part of the history of the Global War on Terrorism, as we share our stories with America and with the world.

I built this DVD of photos that I took at Camp Buehring, Kuwait,  so you can have this memory and this legacy in your hands to help you tell your war stories to your family and to your children, and grandchildren.

They deserve to know who you are…they deserve to be taught by your example how to turn their hearts to their country and become Patriotic just like you, and like the men and women in the battlefield of the Iraq War.

  • Get the DVD with the pictures of the T-Walls of the units in training at Camp Buehring, Kuwait…
  • And send us your stories, if you like.  The T-Walls pictured on the ”The Art of War in Kuwait” DVD were saved in high resolution, so that you can print them, frame them, and  remember them.

Your family, your friends, all of us, are all ears and we want to hear your story and it can be told, with much better emphasis, with these historic pictures…

How did you feel about falling out of your seat belt during the MRAP rollover training?

Then, tell everyone about it!

There are a lot more stories that I want to share with you.  I will be posting them at theartofarinkuwait.com blog.

Talking about the war can be therapeutic…so let’s talk…let’s tell…let’s share

Kenyon KofoedI am LTC (Ret.) Kenyon Kofoed.  I was a Sr. LNO between 2009 and 2010.  If you saw a tall, thin, red-headed, awfully good looking, oatmeal eating LTC, that was me!  And I still eat oatmeal every morning for breakfast.  For variety, I will sometimes drop raisins in the oatmeal or squeeze a little maple syrup on top.  I learned that diet trick in Kuwait because there was NO white sugar in camp.  All we had was brown sugar.“

I  recently retired from the Army Reserves after nearly 40 years.  I am a Vietnam Era Vet.  I served one tour in Iraq as RRAV Team Chief-North and one tour in Kuwait as the Sr. LNO (Liaison Officer).

“I watched first tour soldiers, second tour experienced soldiers, and even some third and fourth tour experts as they moved through their final training before heading north into combat. I was in charge of setting up the training for one third of the units ‘in country.’  Some of the training included…

  • The MRAP rollover training
  • The weapons range
  • The advanced Medic/Combat Lifesaver training AND
  • The live fire convoy operations training”

  • In the heat of the battle, when bullets are flying, the soldier thinks only of protecting the soldier on his right and the soldier on his left.
  • They are soldiers focused on their mission…to win the battle.

Their buddies’ safety is what they worry about

The war is just like an action movie, but only real…

During my first tour, I was stationed at Camp Victory, in Baghdad.

On the third night there, we had a mortar attack.  Some of the rounds hit in the athletic field just on the other side of the T-Wall. We had rounds within 25 feet of where my Master Sergeant and I slept.

At 0200 hrs., mortar rounds have a tendency to wake you up.  It knocked MSG Al Seymour right out of his bunk and really shook me up.

When Seymour got off the floor he turned on the light (the power didn’t go off for a few more minutes) and he saw me standing there, in my underwear, with one boot on, and my 9mm in my hand.

He said,”What are you doing?”

I said, “I’m not sure, but I feel we should be doing something.”

He asked me, “Is that weapon loaded?” I told him it was. He said solidly, “Put – the weapon – down. ” So I did.

He said, “That was just a mortar attack. The Rapid Response Team will take care of it…. Now, Go Back to Bed.”

He rolled over and was snoring quite quickly. (He snores very good.) And in just moments Apache helicopters were flying overhead.

I, however, couldn’t sleep, and I ended up reading for the rest of the night.

How do I feel about Al?  He’s BIG and TOUGH but, I have and will continue to TRUST him with my LIFE!!! ….He was my battle buddy for 2 tours. –Kenyon Kofoed
